There can be a number of reasons your Optimum WiFi isn’t working and the good news is you can troubleshoot most of them yourself. Here are a few things you can do to fix it:

  • First, a missed payment can happen to anyone, so check to see if you missed any payments to Optimum. If not, move to the next step:
  • Check for loose cables and carefully reconnect any that were loose
  • Provided you have a cellular data signal available check for Optimum internet outages using your Optimum phone app
  • Move the device you want to connect to Optimum internet closer to your internet equipment
  • Check your router settings. Is the router trying to connect to your own network and not a nearby network with a different name? If so, select your network on the list, then connect
  • Check that your device has at least two signal bars
  • Make sure airplane mode is off
  • Reset your router/modem by disconnecting the power cord, waiting at least one minute, and reconnecting it to the power source
  • If a reset doesn’t work, restart your device by turning it off for 15 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • If you are using an Optimum mobile hotspot on the go you may be in a weak signal area or dead zone.
  • Check the indicator lights on your wireless router to see if the router is still looking for a signal.
  • If possible, connect to your router via an ethernet cord. This offers the greatest stability.
  • If none of the above helps, contact Optimum customer support at 1-866-218-3259.
