Well, it depends. There are a few factors to consider.

Have you gone over your data allotment?

Most satellite internet companies have some limits on the highspeed data they offer. When you go over that amount, your connection speed slows down. Viasat works a little differently. You still have a certain amount of data that should stay at least close to the advertised download speed, but when you go over that your connection is marked as lower priority than other connections still within their allotments. The benefit here, is that your connection only slows down if there is a high amount of traffic in your area at the time. Some people will barely be affected by the priority change, and it is unlikely that anyone with Viasat is in an area that has high traffic all day. So how slow it can get is going to depend on network traffic in your area.

How’s the weather?

Satellite internet can sometimes be disrupted by storms and other bad weather. If there’s a big storm in your area, your satellite dish can have a difficult time sending and receiving signals from the satellite in orbit, sometimes slowing your connection or even interrupting it. Your speed should return to normal when the weather clears though.

How many devices are you using?

With any internet connection, what some people don’t realize is that your connection speed is shared between your devices. If you have a 25Mbps connection, for example, and you have 5 devices trying to download a file at the same time, it will function like each device has a 5Mbps connection. So, any internet connection can be slowed down dramatically with enough devices active at the same time.
