The Catfish Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the consumption and awareness of U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish. It was established in 1986 and is based in Belzoni, Mississippi, United States. Our motto is, “The real beauty is in the taste.”

Ninety-four percent of all U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish is raised in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. The industry employs 13,000 workers and contributes more than $4 billion to the state economies of these four main farming states.

The institute represents the Catfish Farming Industry and works to educate consumers, chefs, and the general public about the benefits and quality of U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish. We aim to increase the demand for catfish products and support the economic growth of the catfish farming community.

The Catfish Institute conducts research and gathers data to showcase the nutritional value, sustainability, and safety of U.S. farm-raised catfish. It collaborates with industry stakeholders, including farmers, processors, distributors, and retailers, to promote best practices and ensure high standards in the catfish industry.
