Yes, you can record any content on YouTube TV and there’s no storage limit. Recorded content will be saved for nine months and then deleted. You can record any YouTube TV content including shows, sports, entertainment events and movies.

YouTube TV has a policy of recording all episodes in a series once you program the DVR to record just one episode. As each episode you recorded reaches nine months in cloud storage YouTube TV will delete it but there’s no other way to delete content. You can’t pick and choose among episodes to record or delete. All episodes will be stored for nine months by default.

You can, however, record a single sports game or match. You can also choose your favorite teams and set up to record all their games and store them in your library. The "Key Plays'' feature is available for use when watching a game that is currently in progress.

One recent update to the DVR that has frustrated subscribers is the inability to pin specific recordings in the library. Additionally, the popular "New in Your Library" option has been removed. Consequently, the recommendations you receive are based on content you've watched, but not necessarily content you've enjoyed. For instance, if you've watched a single home-remodeling show and didn't particularly enjoy it, would you want more recommendations of the same genre? It would be beneficial to have the ability to customize the DVR library features, much like you can customize the Live TV stream.

Make sure that if you’re ever shown an option to select DVR functionality or VOD (Video on Demand) functionality that you pause before clicking. If you choose to DVR you’ll be able to fast-forward through commercials in recorded content but if you select VOD you won’t be able to do so.

Where Can I See My Recorded Shows?

  • Go to the Library tab
  • Content is broken into categories
  • You’ll see what’s already recorded as well as everything scheduled

When you’ve been recording a show for a long time you can go to the show in your library, and you’ll see the most recent episodes that have been recorded. You can also see all your seasons by simply clicking on the black “Season” bar for a drop-down menu of all seasons that have been recorded. If you started with Season 1, you can go back to all of that first season’s episodes.

You can watch YouTube TV on up to three devices at once. You can even share your YouTube TV account with five other people for a total of 6 accounts per household but each person must have their own Gmail account. Each member on the account can set up their own DVR Library and that’s a great feature.
