Two telecommunications giants, Comcast and Charter, have announced the debut of Xumo Stream Box for Spectrum customers now and for Xfinity customers soon.

The Xumo Stream Box emerges as the latest innovation to harness the power of Comcast's Entertainment Operating System (OS), a cutting-edge platform engineered to streamline content discovery across diverse media landscapes.

Marcien Jenckes, President of Xumo, articulates a common frustration in the modern viewing experience: the complexity of navigating through a fragmented entertainment ecosystem. Xumo's mission is to demystify streaming, amalgamating live TV with premier applications.

Rich DiGeronimo, President of Product and Technology for Charter, echoes this sentiment, highlighting the Xumo Stream Box's capability to offer a curated content selection tailored to user preferences and existing subscriptions. This feature set is poised to expand as Spectrum integrates direct-to-consumer applications into its service.

The device is designed for effortless engagement with favored live, on-demand, or streaming content, facilitated by an intuitive interface and a voice-activated remote control.

Key features of the Xumo Stream Box include:

Joining the ranks of Sky Glass and Sky Stream, the Xumo Stream Box is the latest device energized by the Entertainment OS. The platform is built upon the open-source RDK technology, adept at handling 40 million voice commands daily and delivering five billion streams weekly across an extensive network of over 100 million devices from Comcast, Sky, Xumo, and their syndication partners.

For Spectrum subscribers, the Xumo Stream Box is integrated with the Spectrum TV App, renowned as the top-rated pay TV streaming application and the most utilized streaming service. New Spectrum video subscribers are offered the device at no cost for the first year, with additional units available for purchase or via a service fee.

Cost: New Spectrum customers receive one complimentary Xumo box per household for the first year. Afterward, the option to purchase the device outright is available for $60, or it can be leased for $5 per month. For existing customers, the Xumo box serves as a replacement for Spectrum's set-top cable box, which currently incurs a monthly lease fee of $10.99. Account setup is provided at no additional charge.

Does the Xumo box have its own remote? Yes, Xumo comes with a box and remote. The Xumo box connects via the HDMI cord to your TV. Setup should be relatively seamless once you unbox and connect but you’ll want to spend time navigating the device and its options.
