If you’re a Viasat Internet subscriber and your internet isn’t working, here are several troubleshooting tips to help you stay connected.
Check the Basics: Keep Your Viasat Internet Working
Everyone gets busy, tired, or distracted sometimes. Be sure to double-check the basics if your Viasat Internet isn’t working:
- Have you paid your bill? If you have a new debit card or closed a credit card, your billing may be disrupted. Check the My Viasat app or customer portal to ensure your account is up-to-date.
- Is your power out or did a fuse blow? Equipment like modems and routers require a power source.
Check Your Equipment: Keep Your Viasat Internet Working
If you’ve checked the basics and still have problems, consider your Viasat equipment and your devices.
- Has your satellite dish been knocked out of alignment from a lawn mower, ball, tree limb, or gutter clean-up? Depending on installation location, a number of elements can collide with a dish, requiring realignment.
- Is your modem or modem/router hub plugged in and placed optimally? If you signed up for Viasat texting, you can send a text to reboot equipment.
- Are your devices current with recommended updates? Do you use anti-malware programs? Have you cleared your browser recently? Have you checked Wi-Fi “dead zones” in your home?
Check the Weather: Keep Your Viasat Internet Working
At times, weather can be a temporary factor if your satellite internet is disrupted. Periods of heavy rain or snow can temporarily disrupt signals; snow build-up on the dish surface can also disrupt transmission.
Check Your Data Allowance: Keep Your Viasat Internet Working
If your Viasat Internet is running very slowly, especially during peak use hours like evenings, it’s possible you’ve used your monthly priority data allowance. Standard data is unlimited, but speeds may be slower, especially in the evening.
- Run a speed test through a speed-checker website.
- Check your My Viasat app to track your ongoing data consumption.
- Use Viasat’s data-stretching tools like the Viasat browser or the “data extender” setting for video streaming.
Check with a Customer Care Agent: Keep Your Viasat Internet Working
If you’ve checked the basics and performed initial troubleshooting and your Viasat Internet still isn’t working, reach out to a customer care specialist. Contact a specialist through your My Viasat portal, Viasat texting, or on the phone and get reconnected and online!
