Update: Viasat Select expected to utilize Viasat 3’s capacity upgrades

Viasat has recently announced a new service called Viasat Select that will bring in-flight connectivity to business jet operators. This will allow the passengers and crew to have uninterrupted internet access throughout the flight. While Viasat Select is already being adopted by companies, when Viasat 3 comes online, the increased capacity will help meet the increased demand this service is likely to create. Viasat Select will also benefit from the enormous coverage area Viasat 3 will bring. The three satellites added to Viasat’s satellite constellation will cover almost the entire globe.

Update: Viasat 3’s first satellite is getting prepared for launch

The first of 3 satellites to be launched into orbit is in its last production phase. It is currently being methodically tested to ensure it can endure both the launch and the conditions in orbit. Viasat is hoping to launch this satellite, which will provide coverage to North and South America, in early 2022. Viasat 3 will increase the total capacity of Viasat’s network by 3 terabytes per second, providing an opportunity to further improve Viasat’s internet service offerings.
