What is Murder in Galicia about?
In the quiet village of Pazos, Aniceto and his wife Irene seem like the perfect couple until one night, when she is brutally attacked in what looks like a robbery. As she fights for her life in the hospital, Elías, a Civil Guard sergeant played by Tristán Ulloa, becomes convinced that Aniceto is the attacker. He runs up against a system that won't heed his warnings or protect the victim, and with Aniceto free and Irene's life hanging by a thread, the question is whether the truth will come out in time.
Is Murder in Galicia a true story?
Yes. The series is based on a real crime. The documentary Unprotected: Murder in Galicia tells the story of Isabel Fuentes, who was left near death in her home in the village of Pazos, in Verín, by alleged burglars in April 2015. The Guardia Civil sergeant on the case suspected the account didn't add up and tried to protect her. Thirty-seven days later, she was murdered in the hospital room where she was recovering.
The documentary is directed and written by Jorge Laplace and produced by True Crime Factory, with Carles Porta and Pablo Fernández Masó as executive producers. It features investigators, doctors, family members, neighbors and journalists.
Who is in the cast?
Tristán Ulloa leads a cast that includes Carlos Blanco, Fer Fraga and Miguel Borines as Aniceto, with special appearances by Verónica Sánchez and Edu Soto. Ulloa, Blanco and Borines all appeared in The Asunta Case, another Spanish true-crime drama.
The series is produced by Bambú Producciones, executive produced by Ramón Campos and directed by Carlos Sedes. Ramón Campos, David Orea Arribas, Curro Serrano and Gema R. Neira wrote it.
