Prime Big Deal Days 2026: Streaming Device Deals That Work With DIRECTV
Amazon's fall sale is almost here. Prime Big Deal Days runs Tuesday, October 6, and Wednesday, October 7, 2026. If you've been meaning to upgrade the streaming device on a bedroom TV or add one for the DIRECTV app, this is one of the better times of the year to buy.
Here's what Amazon has confirmed, which streaming devices work with DIRECTV and how to avoid buying the wrong thing.
When is Prime Big Deal Days 2026?
- Dates: October 6-7, 2026 (48 hours)
- Start time: 12:01 a.m. PT on October 6 (3:01 a.m. ET)
- Who can shop: Prime members. Prime costs $14.99 a month or $139 a year, and eligible new members can start a free 30-day trial.

- Early deals: Already live, including up to 45% off select Amazon devices and bundles, among them Amazon Ember TVs with Alexa+.
The confirmed streaming deal: new Fire TV Stick 4K for $29.99
Amazon just released a new Fire TV Stick 4K. It's normally $59.99, and Amazon says it will be $29.99 for U.S. customers during Prime Big Deal Days, half off.
- Streams in 4K at up to 60 frames per second with HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG
- Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3
- Runs Amazon's new Vega OS with Alexa+ and the new Fire TV experience
- Can draw power from your TV's USB port (Direct Power) instead of a wall outlet
- 8GB of storage and a 1.7GHz quad-core processor
Amazon's current stick lineup is the Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max, with the Fire TV Cube above them.
Does the DIRECTV app work on Fire TV?
Yes. DIRECTV lists Fire TV devices running Fire OS 5 or later and Vega OS 1.1 or later as compatible with the DIRECTV app, which covers both older Fire TV models and the new Vega-based stick. DIRECTV and Amazon are also bringing DIRECTV into the Fire TV Live TV guide for U.S. customers later this year, so live DIRECTV channels can show up next to your other live TV. See our coverage of DIRECTV and YouTube TV coming to the Fire TV guide.
Alexa+ features come to the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen), Fire TV Cube and Ember TVs in November. Amazon says the new Fire TV Stick 4K gets them early next year.
Streaming devices that work with the DIRECTV app
You don't have to buy a Fire TV. DIRECTV's app also runs on other popular platforms:
| Platform | DIRECTV app support |
|---|---|
| Amazon Fire TV | Fire OS 5 or later; Vega OS 1.1 or later |
| Roku | Supported Roku devices |
| Apple TV | Supported Apple TV models |
| Google TV / Android TV | Supported devices |
| Samsung smart TVs | 2017 and newer models |
| LG smart TVs | 2021 and newer models |
Device support can change, and some older models drop off over time. Check DIRECTV's current supported-device list before you buy, especially for older or discounted models.

Smart shopping tips for Prime Big Deal Days
- Check the model, not just the name. Confirm the exact generation and operating system so you know it supports the DIRECTV app.
- Go 4K only if your TV is 4K. For a smaller HD bedroom TV, an HD stick may be all you need.
- Check your Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi 6 helps with steady streaming if your router supports it.
- Watch for Today's Big Deals. Some deals only last a few hours or until they sell out.
- Remember the trial. If you join Prime just for the sale, set a reminder before the free trial ends.
