By American TV editorial team |
The Wizard of Oz makes its CW debut on Wednesday, November 25, 2026, from 8 to 10 p.m. ET/PT, the night before Thanksgiving. The CW airs the classic 1939 film again on Sunday, December 20, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. ET/PT. On DIRECTV, both airings are on your local CW station.

The CW scheduled the movie as a family pick for Thanksgiving eve. When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy Gale and her dog, Toto, are whisked away to the Land of Oz. They follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, picking up a Scarecrow who wants a brain, a Tin Man who wants a heart and a Cowardly Lion who wants courage along the way.

Search the guide for "Wizard of Oz" a few days ahead and set a recording, especially if Thanksgiving travel will keep you away from the TV that night.
