What the docuseries is about
At 30, Sam Bankman-Fried ran a $32 billion crypto empire until he was convicted of stealing $8 billion in customer funds, one of the biggest frauds in U.S. history. Prime Video says he tells his own story from prison for the first time in the series, which asks whether it was fraud or whether his risky bets simply spiraled out of control.
The series also features never-before-seen interviews with people who built FTX with him. It looks at his pressure-cooker world, his inner circle and his complicated relationship with Caroline Ellison, his former girlfriend and the CEO of his trading firm.
Who made it?
Nanette Burstein directs and executive produces. Howard T. Owens, Ben Silverman, Drew Buckley, Isabel San Vargas, Taylor Levin and James Packer are also executive producers. Silverman, co-CEO of Propagate Content, said the team's access to Bankman-Fried and the people around him let them tell the story with more depth and nuance.
