When does Tenzing come out on Apple TV?
Apple lists Friday, October 16, 2026 as Tenzing’s global streaming date. The film opened in select theaters a week earlier, on October 9, after its Canadian premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Unlike a rental, it comes with a regular Apple TV subscription at no extra charge.
Apple hasn’t posted an exact release time. Tap the plus button on the Tenzing page in the Apple TV app to add it to your Watchlist, and it will show up in Up Next once it’s available.
What is Tenzing about?
Tenzing tells the little-known side of the 1953 Everest climb. Encouraged by his wife Dawa (Thinley Lhamo), Tenzing finds an ally in expedition secretary Jill Henderson (Caitríona Balfe), and together they persuade Colonel John Hunt (Willem Dafoe) that Tenzing belongs on the British climbing team rather than just serving it.
Where Western climbers see Everest as something to conquer, Tenzing reveres it as Chomolungma, the sacred mother goddess. Apple describes the ascent as shaped as much by tensions of background, class and ambition as by the dangers of the mountain, with Tenzing and Hillary becoming two outsiders bound by trust high above the world. The PG rating makes it a reasonable pick for a family movie night with older kids.
