Does Philo Have Local Sports or Regional Sports Networks?
No. Philo doesn’t carry any regional sports networks, and it doesn’t carry local ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC stations either. It also leaves out ESPN, FS1 and most other sports channels. That’s true on both of Philo’s paid plans as of October 20, 2026: Essential at $25 a month and Bundle+ at $33 a month. If you want your local team’s games, Philo alone won’t get you there.
Philo keeps its price low by building its lineup around entertainment, lifestyle and news-light cable networks and skipping the expensive sports and broadcast channels. Here’s what that means in practice, and how it compares with DIRECTV for local sports.
Philo plans and sports coverage, checked October 20, 2026
| Philo plan | Price | Regional sports networks | Local ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC | ESPN / FS1 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | No | No | No |
| Essential (70+ live channels) | $25/mo. | No | No | No |
| Bundle+ (adds AMC+, HBO Max Basic With Ads, discovery+) | $33/mo. | No | No | No |
Philo.com prices for direct purchases as of October 20, 2026. Prices through third-party billing can differ. Essential includes a 7-day free trial; Bundle+ does not.
Can you watch any sports on Philo?
Very little live sports. Philo’s lineup doesn’t include the networks that carry most pro and college games. The one route to live sports through Philo is indirect: Bundle+ includes HBO Max Basic With Ads, and HBO Max streams some live sports in its own app. That won’t cover your local NBA, NHL or MLB team’s regional games, which air on a regional sports network or local broadcast stations.
Philo itself suggests an antenna for local channels. In many markets an antenna picks up ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC for free, which covers national games on those networks and teams that moved to free local stations. It won’t pick up a cable regional sports network like MSG or NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Where your local team airs now
Local sports TV changed a lot in 2026. FanDuel Sports Network shut down after the 2025–26 NBA regular season, so many of its teams moved to free local broadcast stations, team apps or DAZN. Other teams stayed on regional sports networks such as NBC Sports Boston, YES Network, MSG, Chicago Sports Network, Altitude Sports, NBC Sports Bay Area, Space City Home Network, Spectrum SportsNet and NBC Sports Philadelphia. Which one your team uses decides what you need:
- If your team is on a regional sports network, you need a provider that carries that network. Philo doesn’t carry any.
- If your team moved to a local broadcast station, an antenna or a provider with local channels will work. Philo doesn’t carry locals.
- If your team streams on DAZN or a team app, that’s a separate subscription whichever TV service you use.

Philo vs DIRECTV for a sports fan: the monthly math
Philo Essential plus a one-time antenna purchase is the cheapest way to get entertainment cable channels and free local stations, but it leaves out ESPN and every regional sports network. MySports at $64.99 adds ESPN, ESPN2 and NBA TV; adding MyHome Team for your regional network brings it to $84.98. Some households keep Philo for entertainment and add a sports package elsewhere; at that point it’s worth comparing a single DIRECTV package against two bills. Our DIRECTV vs Philo comparison covers the entertainment side in more detail.
