DIRECTV Pricing: Are You Paying Too Much?
DIRECTV's headline package prices don't tell the whole story. Satellite and streaming use different discounts, different terms and different required fees, and a regional sports fee is added on CHOICE and above. If you want to know whether you are paying too much, compare your bill with the full pricing below, not just the big number on an ad.
Prices checked October 5, 2026 (ET). The streaming figures below reflect DIRECTV's posted new-customer offer. Satellite pricing and final totals vary by ZIP code and checkout configuration. Taxes and fees are extra unless noted.

DIRECTV via Satellite pricing
DIRECTV's satellite checkout varies by ZIP code, local-channel selection, equipment and offer. Because the official order pages can show different package and fee combinations, use an itemized quote for your address instead of treating a national table as a guaranteed satellite price.
- Agreement: qualifying satellite orders can require a 24-month agreement.
- Early termination: DIRECTV lists $20 for each month remaining on the agreement, up to $480.
- Equipment and sports fees: TV Access, receiver-service and regional-sports charges can depend on the package, equipment, start date and ZIP code. Confirm each line at checkout.
Get the written quote. Enter your ZIP code and review the checkout summary for the package price, equipment, Regional Sports Fee, taxes and any activation charge before ordering.
DIRECTV Stream / via Internet pricing (as of October 5, 2026)
These are DIRECTV's streaming packages with a leased Gemini device, which is the main offer on DIRECTV's packages page.
| Package | Intro price | After the intro, through month 24 | Est. max with required fees, before discounts (our math)* |
|---|---|---|---|
| ENTERTAINMENT 90+ channels | $59.99/mo. for months 1–3 (up to $69.99 with the Gemini lease) | $94.99/mo. with the Gemini lease, months 4–24 ($5/mo. off) | $99.99/mo. |
| CHOICE™ 125+ channels | $64.99/mo. for month 1, plus taxes and fees | $10/mo. off, months 2–24 | $128.98/mo. |
| ULTIMATE 160+ channels | $94.99/mo. for month 1, plus taxes and fees | $15/mo. off, months 2–24 | $163.98/mo. |
| PREMIER™ 185+ channels | $134.99/mo. for month 1, plus taxes and fees | $20/mo. off, months 2–24 | $208.98/mo. |
- Package list prices (before fees): $89.99 for ENTERTAINMENT, $94.99 for CHOICE, $129.99 for ULTIMATE and $174.99 for PREMIER.
- Contract and price guarantee: no annual contract, and you can cancel anytime. DIRECTV's offer terms include a 2-year price guarantee. It does not cover taxes, extra fees, add-on channels, DIRECTV Tech Protect, equipment lease fees or one-time charges.
- After 24 months: service continues month to month at DIRECTV's then-current price. DIRECTV currently lists $99.99/mo. for ENTERTAINMENT with the Gemini lease, but no figure for the other packages.
- Streaming on your own device (no Gemini, no lease fee): ENTERTAINMENT is $89.99/mo. before its promo. The promo is shorter: ENTERTAINMENT gets $30/mo. off for 3 months, and CHOICE and up get $30 off month 1 and $10/mo. off months 2–3. After the promo you pay the regular price.
*Our math, not a DIRECTV quote. We added the package list price, the required $10/mo. Gemini lease and, on CHOICE and up, the maximum Regional Sports Fee of $23.99/mo. Your fee may be lower, and taxes are extra. Subtract the monthly promo discount to estimate months 2–24. DIRECTV shows your actual total only after you enter your ZIP code.
Fees that raise your DIRECTV bill
- Equipment fee, $10/mo. per device: on satellite this is the TV Access Fee. DIRECTV's satellite offer terms require one, and each additional device adds $10/mo. Each additional Gemini also has a one-time $49 fee. On DIRECTV Stream the equivalent is the Gemini lease: $10/mo. for the required Gemini and $10/mo. for each extra device. You don't pay a lease fee if you stream on your own device.
- Advanced Receiver Service (ARS) fee: may or may not apply. DIRECTV's offer terms for these packages don't mention an ARS fee. They list only the TV Access Fee or Gemini lease as required equipment fees. DIRECTV's general fee schedule lists an ARS fee of up to $25/mo. for satellite and Gemini customers, and says it may be included in your package price depending on your package and start date. Ask whether it applies before you order, and check your bill.
- Regional Sports Fee (RSF): up to $23.99/mo. per DIRECTV's current offer terms. Some DIRECTV pages still show lower caps of $19.99 or $17.99. It applies to CHOICE, ULTIMATE and PREMIER on both satellite and streaming. It's set by your billing ZIP code, is lower in some areas, and can change if you move or if programming costs change. ENTERTAINMENT has no RSF.
- Activation: $49.95 one-time, satellite only.
- Early termination (satellite only): $20 for each month left on the 24-month agreement, up to $480. The current DIRECTV Stream offer has no annual contract and no early termination fee in its offer terms. If you cancel streaming, you must return each leased Gemini or pay $120 per device.
- Unreturned satellite equipment: $45 for each standard or HD receiver or Genie Mini, $120 for each Gemini or Gemini Air, and $135 for each DVR, HD DVR, Genie HD DVR or Genie 2.
- Taxes and cost-recovery fees: all prices are plus state and local taxes. Satellite bills can also include a Federal Cost Recovery Fee, a State and Local Cost Recovery Fee, and a use-tax surcharge on the retail value of installation and equipment upgrades. These vary, and DIRECTV doesn't publish fixed amounts.
- Other satellite fees (DIRECTV fee schedule): late payment up to $12, phone or agent payment up to $5, returned payment up to $30, technician dispatch $99, restoral up to $20, and equipment upgrade without a promotion up to $399.
- Promos that renew: the free first month of the DIRECTV Sports Pack renews at $14.99/mo. Free premium networks renew after 3 months at current rates ($18.49/mo. for HBO Max, $13.99/mo. for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, $11.99/mo. each for STARZ and Cinemax, and $7.99/mo. for MGM+).
Are you paying too much? Check your bill against these numbers
- Find your package line. If you stream, compare it with the table above. If you use satellite, compare it with the itemized quote for your ZIP code. Add your TV Access Fee or Gemini lease and your Regional Sports Fee, then compare the total with the "est. max with required fees" column. If your total is higher, a discount may have ended or been applied wrong, or you have extra devices or add-ons.
- Count your equipment fees. Satellite charges a TV Access Fee for each device, and streaming charges a lease fee for each Gemini. If you're paying for devices in rooms you no longer use, returning them can lower your bill. If you see an "Advanced Receiver Service" charge, ask whether your package price was supposed to include it.
- Check the Regional Sports Fee. It should appear only on CHOICE or higher, at up to $23.99/mo. per DIRECTV's current offer terms. If you don't watch your local teams, moving down to ENTERTAINMENT removes the RSF entirely.
- Look for expired promotions. Look for Sports Pack, premium networks or other add-ons that went from free to paid. On satellite, also check that the $10 autopay and paperless credit is on your bill.
- Check your month count. Streaming discounts end in month 24 at the latest, and some end after month 1 or 3. Satellite's 2-year guarantee ends after month 24. Your bill can jump when either one ends.
- Match the package to what you watch. If you mainly watch a handful of channels, a smaller tier or a Genre Pack may be enough. MyKids lists at $20.99/mo. (see our Genre Packs and Signature streaming guide).
When to call
- A month or two before your price guarantee or promo ends, so you can ask what your new rate will be and what offers are available.
- When your bill rises and you can't match the increase to a line item.
- Before you add TVs, upgrade receivers or move. Each of these can change your TV Access Fees or your Regional Sports Fee.
- Before you cancel a satellite agreement early, to find out how much of the early termination fee you would owe ($20 for each month left, up to $480).

Satellite vs. streaming: which costs less?
Streaming has no annual contract and can include temporary discounts. Satellite can require a 24-month agreement and additional equipment or activation charges, but it does not depend on home internet for live TV. The less expensive option depends on your ZIP code, package, equipment and final checkout fees, so compare itemized totals rather than headline prices.
When DIRECTV still makes sense at these prices
- You want live sports, regional sports networks and locals (where available) in one place.
- You want satellite reliability without depending on home broadband for live TV.
- A new offer at your ZIP code still beats what you pay today, after the Regional Sports Fee and equipment fees.
When to rethink the bill
- Your package is two tiers above what you actually watch.
- You pay a Regional Sports Fee for teams you never watch.
- You pay TV Access Fees for rooms you no longer use.
- A Genre Pack or a smaller Signature tier would cover your must-have channels.

It's a monthly fee on CHOICE and higher packages, which include regional sports networks. DIRECTV's general fee schedule also lists an Advanced Receiver Service fee of up to $25/mo. that isn't mentioned in these offer terms, so ask whether it applies to you.
What happens to my DIRECTV price after 24 months?
Your 2-year price guarantee ends and service continues month to month at DIRECTV's then-current prices. DIRECTV currently lists $99.99/mo. for streaming ENTERTAINMENT with the Gemini lease, but it doesn't publish a month-25 price for the other packages or for satellite. Call before month 24 to get your rate.
How can I lower my DIRECTV bill?
Drop add-ons and extra receivers you don't use, consider a lower tier with no Regional Sports Fee or a Genre Pack, make sure your autopay and paperless credit is applied, and call before your price guarantee ends to ask for a current offer at your address: 1-855-690-9884.
