Farmers Telephone Cooperative was founded in 1947 as one of the first rural telephone cooperatives. It was started to bring telecommunication services to rural and remote areas of South Carolina. Today, the cooperative provides telephone and internet services to over ten thousand customers in 15 counties in South Carolina, offering services to both residential and commercial customers.
Farmers Telephone Cooperative's coverage area encompasses 94% of South Carolina's landmass and spans four states.
