How the Cougars and Beavers got here
Oregon State lost its first two games, then won four straight to sit at 4-2 and 2-0 in the Pac-12 under coach JaMarcus Shephard. Yahoo Sports’ Pac-12 preview notes the Beavers have outscored their last four opponents 207-64, including a 66-14 win over San Diego State last weekend.
Washington State is 1-5 and 0-2 in league play in Kirby Moore’s first season as head coach. WSU still ranks second in the Pac-12 in total defense and passing yards allowed, according to the school’s game notes.
The schools are the two holdovers from the original Pac-12 and played three times over the last two seasons. The Beavers won both games in Corvallis, 41-38 in 2024 and 10-7 in 2025, while the Cougars won 32-8 in Pullman to close the 2025 regular season.
