How to Watch Possible Love on Netflix

Two empty chairs facing each other in a quiet Seoul apartment at twilight, a documentary camera on a tripod beside them and city lights through the window, no people, no text, no logos

Possible Love streams on Netflix worldwide starting Friday, November 6, 2026. It's the first film in eight years from South Korean director Lee Chang-dong, whose last movie was 2018's Burning, and it stars Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung and Cho Yeo-jeong.

Before it reaches Netflix, the film opens in select U.S. theaters on October 23. Netflix says South Korea has picked Possible Love as its submission for Best International Feature Film at the 99th Academy Awards, so it's likely to stay in the awards conversation through the winter.

What Possible Love is about

The film follows two married couples whose lives start to overlap. Mi-ok, played by Jeon Do-yeon, lives quietly with her laid-off husband Ho-seok, played by Sul Kyung-gu, and their young son. A funeral brings them into contact with Ye-ji, a documentary filmmaker making a film about workers who lost their jobs, and her well-off husband Sang-woo.

When Mi-ok agrees to be filmed, she grows close to Ye-ji and finds herself drawn to the hard-to-read Sang-woo. As the two couples spend more time together, including a vacation Ye-ji suggests they take as a group, cracks start to show in both marriages.

Possible Love cast

  • Jeon Do-yeon as Mi-ok
  • Sul Kyung-gu as Ho-seok
  • Cho Yeo-jeong as Ye-ji
  • Zo In-sung as Sang-woo

Jeon won the best actress prize at Cannes for Lee's Secret Sunshine, and Sul starred in his Peppermint Candy and Oasis, so the film reunites the director with two longtime collaborators. Cho is best known in the U.S. for Parasite.
