What is Church Wives about?
The series is set inside a prominent megachurch, where two ambitious women go to war for status and power when a coveted leadership role opens up. BET says the polite competition escalates fast, turning committee meetings, fundraisers and Bible studies into battlegrounds for manipulation and shifting alliances. As devotion gives way to ego, the congregation gets caught in the fallout, and winning starts to matter more than faith.
Who is in the Church Wives cast?
Gizelle Bryant, best known from The Real Housewives of Potomac, leads the cast. BET lists these series regulars:
- Gizelle Bryant
- Ashley Clarice
- Amberlin Morse
- Kiana Nicole Washington
- Cortez Adams

Why Church Wives starts on BET before aTwist
Church Wives is the second title from BET's partnership with aTwist, a studio and app built around short vertical dramas made for phones. BET gets a limited first-run window and airs the long-form episodes as half-hour installments in the usual widescreen format. Later, the same story moves to aTwist's vertical platform as a microseries, and BET says that date will be announced soon.
That means watching on BET is the way to see Church Wives first. The DIRECTV app also streams BET live with your DIRECTV login, so you can catch Wednesday nights on a phone or tablet.
