What is Cannibal Poet about?
José Luis Calva Zepeda was known around Mexico City's Guerrero neighborhood as a poet, writer, taxi driver and actor. His 2007 arrest revealed a history of violence against women, and the press followed every turn of the investigation that came after.
The series looks at the gap between his public persona and his crimes, and at the warning signs that were missed along the way. Journalist Luis Brito, who interviewed Calva Zepeda, revisits that conversation, and forensic experts and new interviews add context to the case.
