How to Cancel Netflix, Pause It, or Stop Netflix Billed Through DIRECTV

You can cancel Netflix any time in a web browser, and you keep watching until the end of the billing period you've already paid for. If you only need a break, Netflix also lets you pause for up to three months and keeps your profiles and watch history. If Netflix shows up on your DIRECTV bill, you'll need to cancel it in a different place, which we explain below.

Cancel Netflix in a web browser

  1. Sign in at netflix.com on a computer or phone browser, then open Account and Membership.
  2. Select Cancel Membership.
  3. Select Finish Cancellation.

You'll get an email confirming the cancellation. You can keep watching until your billing date, and Netflix keeps your profiles for a while in case you come back.

Pause instead of canceling

Netflix lets eligible members pause for one month and extend the pause up to a total of three months. Your profiles, ratings and history stay saved and billing picks up again when the pause ends. If you don't see the pause option on your Membership page, cancel instead, because restarting later is just as easy.

Removing Netflix from your DIRECTV bill may not end Netflix access if Netflix has another valid payment method saved. DIRECTV says Netflix can resume charging that payment method directly. Check your Netflix membership and billing status afterward if you want to stop the subscription completely.
