Yes, approximately 51% of Pennsylvania has access to fiber optic internet. Service providers offering fiber optic plans in parts of Pennsylvania include Google Fiber, Verizon Fios, Earthlink, AT&T, and CenturyLink. More is on the way. Ultra 5G Home Internet has announced its intention to provide fiber optic internet service throughout the state by the end of 2024. In areas where fiber optic infrastructure is not yet available, you might still be able to obtain an internet plan with download speeds nearing 940 Mbps, almost 1 Gigabit, through a cable provider that utilizes a hybrid coaxial-fiber network. However, while download and upload speeds are symmetrical in a pure fiber optic system, they won't be in this type of hybrid network. Nonetheless, the speeds should be a significant improvement over standard broadband cable upload speeds.
