Atlanta Hawks Games on Prime Video: How to Watch in 2026-27
Atlanta Hawks local games will stream on Prime Video for the 2026-27 NBA season, and fans inside the team's TV territory can watch them with a regular Amazon Prime membership. There's no extra subscription or Hawks add-on to buy. The team announced the deal on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the day before its season opener.
The Hawks say they're the first NBA team to stream their local games exclusively on Prime Video. The streaming deal sits on top of the free TV deal the team signed with Gray Media in July, so 74 regular-season games still air over the air on WANF (Atlanta News First) and Peachtree Sports Network. Here's how both options work and where DIRECTV fits in, as of October 24, 2026.
Where to watch Hawks games in 2026-27
| How you watch | What you get | Who can watch |
|---|---|---|
| Prime Video | Streams of local Hawks games, meaning games that aren't national exclusives | Prime members inside the Hawks' TV territory |
| WANF (Atlanta News First, channel 46 over the air) | Free broadcasts of non-nationally televised games | Atlanta market, by antenna or pay TV |
| Peachtree Sports Network on Gray stations | The same local games on WALB Albany, WRDW Augusta, WTVM Columbus, WPGA Macon and WTOC Savannah | Viewers in those Georgia markets |
| National TV partners | Nationally exclusive Hawks games | Anyone with those networks |
The Hawks' TV territory covers parts of Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and Mississippi. Raycom Sports produces the local broadcasts, and the team says 74 regular-season games are set for the TV broadcasts and Prime Video streams. Atlanta opened the 2026-27 season on October 21 with a 132-125 win at Orlando, according to the NBA's official game recap.
How to stream the Hawks on Prime Video
You need an Amazon Prime membership and a location inside the Hawks' territory. According to the team, you can watch in a web browser or in the Prime Video app on compatible smart TVs, phones, tablets, game consoles and streaming devices. Sports Business Journal reported that requiring only a basic Prime subscription, rather than a separate Hawks channel, was a priority for the team's front office.
Prime Video only carries the local games. Games that a national partner holds exclusively stay with that partner, so you'll still need those networks for national windows.
"We are committed to putting our fans first and maximizing accessibility throughout the state of Georgia and the Southeast," said Andrew Saltzman, president of business enterprise and chief commercial officer of the Hawks and State Farm Arena.
How to watch the Hawks for free on WANF
Gray Media's July agreement made WANF the Hawks' official broadcast partner and put every non-nationally televised regular-season game on free over-the-air TV. In the Atlanta market, a TV antenna picks up WANF on channel 46. Gray also said it will air three preseason games and select national games this season.
Gray says WANF is carried on major pay-TV systems, including DIRECTV, Xfinity, Spectrum and DISH, and it's also on YouTube TV, DIRECTV STREAM and Fubo. Outside Atlanta, the Gray stations in Albany, Augusta, Columbus, Macon and Savannah carry the games on Peachtree Sports Network.
Watching the Hawks with DIRECTV
If you live in the Atlanta market and have DIRECTV, the WANF broadcasts come through your local channels, so you don't need a separate sports network for most Hawks games. Our DIRECTV channels for Georgia guide lists the local lineup, and the DIRECTV packages and deals in Georgia page compares plans.
For the Prime Video streams, a DIRECTV Gemini device runs streaming apps alongside live TV on the same screen. If you're a Prime member who only wants Prime Video for basketball season, our guide on pausing Prime Video explains who can pause and for how long. Last season's details are on our Hawks 2025-26 season guide, and our NBA on DIRECTV page covers the national networks.
Why the Hawks chose Prime Video
Sports Business Journal reported that the agreement is a one-year direct-to-consumer deal. It also noted that Amazon already streams seven NHL teams' local games exclusively, while DAZN has picked up local rights for 10 NBA teams, plus five more through DAZN-owned ViewLift. The Hawks said the goal was to reach fans wherever they watch, whether that's on a TV, a tablet or a phone.
