EPB (Electric Power Board of Chattanooga) is an independent municipal power utility that provides internet and related services to customers in the greater Chattanooga-Hamilton County area. EPB was founded in 1935 as a public utility to manage the distribution of electric power for the City of Chattanooga. It was the first publicly-owned utility of its kind in the United States.
EPB offers its customers a range of services, from internet access to telephone and cable television. EPB services are available in a 12-county area in and around Chattanooga-Hamilton County, and EPB is the only major provider of these services in the area.
EPB's internet services are powered by the nation's first full-service, community-wide fiber-optic network. This network boasts reliability and speeds that are some of the fastest available in the country; customers are able to access up to 10,000 megabits per second (Mbps) download speeds.
